Gold Coast Christmas Parade

The Gold Coast will come alive this Christmas!

         The Event

The Gold Coast will come alive this Christmas with one of the biggest, FREE family events the City has ever seen on Sunday, December 6 2020.

The inaugural Gold Coast Christmas Parade will see an estimated 70 animated floats, giant helium balloons, marching bands and community groups travel down the esplanade in what is set to become an annual tradition, spreading goodwill and Christmas cheer to tens of thousands of families, locals and visitors, and presenting a unique opportunity for businesses, charities and the community to be part of something truly magical.

After years of planning and several hugely successful Christmas parades in Sydney, Master Events is bringing this spectacular event to the Gold Coast.  Don’t miss your chance to be involved.

Why sponser?

Showcasing your brand in front of a captive, live audience where you can connect and engage directly with your customers is a rare opportunity.

But the opportunities reach far beyond the parade.

This is a 12-month public relations and media campaign, a launch party and a four-month intensive marketing and promotions campaign with public activations, signage around the City and advertising across all multimedia channels. Plus a television deal with Grainger TV to broadcast the parade in December, with re runs.

This is a very limited chance to have your brand highlighted throughout the year, amplified through November and showcased to hundreds of thousands of people lined the Esplanade in Surfers Paradise on December 6.

Place your business centre stage in a masterful performance that showcases the magic of Christmas and the power of community.

There aren’t many traditions that are as widely celebrated or recognised as Christmas; nor are there many events with community benefits so far reaching.

Being part of something that commemorates a much-loved custom, creates capacity in the community to share and connect, and gives opportunities for multiple charities to raise funds is an opportunity that doesn’t come around very often.

The brand exposure, public relations, televised broadcasts and mass marketing that comes with sponsoring the Gold Coast Christmas Parade will have immense benefits to your business, but it is the perceived corporate social responsibility that will have an invaluable and lasting impact that money can’t buy.

Who are we

Established in 1987, Master Events is a highly experienced large-scale  events company that has run or been involved in similar and larger scale events including Christmas parades in Sydney CBD, New York’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Adelaide Christmas Pageant, Queen’s Jubilee, Sydney 2000 Olympics and 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

We value our community and want to create a free Christmas parade that supports charities and offers businesses a unique opportunity to have their brand become synonymous with family, connection and community spirit.

Together with our event management team, SoldOut Events, we are committed to making the Gold Coast Christmas Parade a lasting legacy for the entire Gold Coast community.

Our team

Event goals

We are working together with Council and our event management team, SoldOut Events, to ensure the Gold Coast Christmas Parade is an ongoing success that values our heritage, celebrates our culture, connects our community, promotes local businesses, raises money for charities and encourages tourism.

The goal of the event is to establish and create a high quality, culturally rich, FREE family community experience that brings together people of all ages and backgrounds, and supports local businesses, clubs, schools and charity organisations.

The parade will also provide an added boost to tourism through our televised coverage both nationally and overseas.

Praise from Sydney

“The Sydney Christmas parade aims to promote unity and goodwill among the people of Sydney and strengthen the sense of community by encouraging people to join together to celebrate Christmas and the holiday season. Charitable organisations will also benefit from funds that the trust hopes to raise through the event, thereby sharing the spirit of Christmas with those in need.”

Prime Minister John Howard told the Daily Telegraph in 2007

Benefits to our community

In supporting the Christmas Parade event, we know that it’s important that not only will  the event be managed well, but also that we are able to demonstrate how this event  provides positive benefits to stakeholders and the community.

Families – This is a FREE event for all families, designed to enhance  their sense of belonging to the vibrant Gold Coast community, especially  for the 12,500 new residents that move to the Gold Coast annually

Residents – Running the Parade along 2.5km esplanade allows as many of the  600,000 residents of the Gold Coast as possible to view the event  without impacting street traffic.

Seniors – There are 60,000 people over 65 yrs living in the Gold Coast who  value community spirit and opportunities for memory making family values-  based activities that they can access safely and enjoy with their grandkids.

Local Businesses – The event provides multiple levels of opportunity to the  64,500 businesses trading in the Gold Coast region to leverage the event to grow their business.

Schools – We invite schools to perform and  participate in the event, as well as running competitions in conjunction with  the event to award prizes to their school communities and students. Each  student receives a Certificate of Participation, which may be used to add to  their CV and job search processes.

We recruit and employ local talent from schools and studios in the Gold Coast.

Employment Opportunities – The event provides employment  opportunities for between 700 – 1000 people (in the Gold Coast) during  the project planning and event day.

Community Groups – One of our favourite features of the Parade is how it provides the 370 community clubs and interest groups in GCC  region an opportunity to benefit from the event, through promotion, fundraising,  and showcases their organisations volunteers and services.

Charities are given free on-float promotion and stalls at the event

Multicultural Groups – The Gold Coast is wonderful mix of cultures with 157,000 people moving to Australia to live in the Gold Coast.

The event is about sharing both the traditional Australian Christmas icons  as well as rejoicing in the multicultural flavours of our community during a  season of celebration.

Indigenous Culture – As part of our planning we will be consulting  with local First Nations leaders to ensure that our population of approx  9000 First Nations people are active participants and that indigenous culture is included in the celebration activities.

People with Disabilities –27,500 people face physical and cognitive  challenges within our community that often make participating in large  scale public events inaccessible or unpleasant.

We want this event to be for everyone, therefore it’s designed to enable people with disabilities to be part of their community.

Sections of the parade area will be designed to allow better accessibility,  sensory aware and enhanced visibility for people who need more space  or specific access equipment.

Tourists and Tourism – Promoting QLD and Gold Coast to the benefit of  businesses and the community is one of key outcomes of the event.

The event will be a spectacular experience for tourists visiting the coast  during the holiday season and will be televised and recorded to allow it to  be broadcast both nationally and overseas to support tourism in the Gold  Coast both before and after the event.
